The Browns said , the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, didn’t feel well upon arrival at the team’s facility Tuesday and was immediately placed into the protocol.

The defensive end appeared to injure his foot during minicamp on Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala. Garrett walked the full sideline, high-fived some teammates and walked off the field with a slightly more pronounced limp as the team moved indoors due to inclement weather, Kinkhabwala added.

Foot injuries have been an issue dating back to Garrett’s days at Texas A&M. He dealt with a high ankle sprain during his final college season. The rookie limped off the field in June with a foot injury. Now he suffered another ankle injury.

Myles Garrett’s status for the Browns’ opener is in question after he tweaked his ankle. Garrett has four sacks in his first three games this season. He missed the Browns’ first four games with an ankle injury.

Garrett made two good tackles against the run, and then showed his speed late in the first quarter of Thursday night’s game. In what proved to be his last play of the game, Garrett beat Saints offensive lineman Khalif Barnes on third down and hit quarterback Garrett Grayson as he threw. On Wednesday, Jackson said that if Garrett played he might be on the field for the entire game.

With a dearth of NFL news during this down time in the NFL calendar, updates on Garrett’s left foot will be of interest over the next few weeks. But until we hear otherwise, the boot is simply a boot.

Coach Hue Jackson said the No. 1 overall selection was limited in Wednesday’s practice after suffering an ankle injury. Garrett is scheduled to undergo an MRI, a source informed of the situation told NFL cheap jerseys Network Insider Ian Rapoport. His availability for Sunday also could be in doubt, Rapoport added.

On Sunday, Garrett will face Titans tackle Taylor Lewan, one of the better left tackles in the league and in his fourth season out of Michigan. Garrett admitted Lewan, who went to his first Pro Bowl after last season, will provide a good way to gauge his progress.

Garrett had a foot issue in minicamp, but Jackson said he did not believe the ankle injury was related. Garrett was the first overall pick in this year’s draft. “He was out there at practice; obviously he didn’t finish practice,” Jackson said. “Let’s just leave it at that. He didn’t finish today, so we’ll see where we are.”

When he met the media before practice, Garrett refused to back down from his statement in the spring that he hoped to take down Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Garrett was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain Sept. 7, one day after he was hurt during Cleveland’s first full practice leading to its season opener. The injury occurred during a team drill when Garrett was engaged with an offensive lineman and a teammate fell against the side of his lower leg.

Jackson said Garrett ran around and “looked good.” He also took part in team drills, a positive sign. He was officially listed as a limited participant in practice. Whether Garrett makes his NFL debut this Sunday remains to be seen. If he does play, it will likely be on a snap count.

Garrett told reporters Friday that he’d love to get a sack in his NFL debut, adding, per the Akron Beacon Journal, “It’s special. It’s like a fat guy’s touchdown. But whatever I can do to affect the game and just be a helping hand for this defense, if we can just help get a win on this field, I’ll do whatever I can, whatever that takes.”

Myles Garrett, DE, first round: Injuries have derailed Garrett’s season, though in the three games he played he played well, with four sacks. Garrett was sidelined by a high ankle sprain to start the season and most recently a concussion. Sacks get the notice, but Garrett’s debut was positive. The first overall pick in the draft continues to do a lot right. So far, Garrett has given onlookers little reason to doubt his ability to become a very good NFL player.
